Seeing stars at the House of Lords
Sequel’s Senior Producer Julie Sander was at the House of Lords recently for a very special occasion for the UK film industry.
When film industry trade body EVCOM held its annual Fellowship lunch, Julie and Simon Fisher, Sequel’s Film and AV Producer, were invited to attend. Here’s her account of the occasion.
More than 100 EVCOM members and leading professionals across the industry attended the EVCOM Fellowship Awards.
The lunch was hosted by Lord Watson of Richmond, who welcomed us and explained that we were there to celebrate great contributions to the visual communications industry. It was great to hear from someone who has over 40 years’ experience as a broadcaster and consultant in communications.
It also was fantastic to see two impressive people honoured as Fellows of EVCOM. Julian Pullan, Vice-Chairman of Jack Morton Worldwide was first. Hearing about what he’s done to nurture young talent in the industry was very inspiring.
The second new Fellow was of particular interest to me, having recently seen Paddington 2. Hugh Bonneville graciously accepted the award and played down any references to this being a fitting location for his Downton Abbey character, Lord Grantham.
Finally, we were ushered out into the House of Lords gift shop – a great place to stock up on Christmas presents, including a very fine line in marmalade – perhaps Hugh bought some as a present for Paddington!
