Let’s all help tackle knife crime

Next week, 15-21 May, Sequel is supporting #KnifeCrimeAwarenessWeek.

The annual event, which is organised by Sequel’s chosen charity, the Ben Kinsella Trust, aims to raise awareness of the tragic consequences of knife crime and encourage positive action to prevent it.

The charity’s message is that everyone must take personal responsibility to bring meaningful change in our society.

This year’s #KnifeCrimeAwarenessWeek is particularly poignant, coming 15 years after the death of Ben Kinsella, who was senselessly stabbed to death on 29 June 2008.

Events and challenges have been planned for each day of the week, from Monday 15 May to Sunday 21 May, giving people the opportunity to make pledges, raise awareness and fundraise for this life-saving cause.

Visit the Ben Kinsella Trust website for details of how to take part.

Sequel Group has been supporting the charity for three years, during which time we’ve fundraised and produced videos and panels for its award-winning immersive exhibition, telling the personal stories of victims of knife crime.

Despite the Trust’s best efforts, more than 1,000 young people in England and Wales have died of stab wounds in the past 15 years. More than 50,400 knife-related offences were recorded by police in the 12 months to September 2022.

Please share this message, visit the Ben Kinsella Trust to make a donation or to take part in #KnifeCrimeAwarenessWeek and do your bit to tackle knife crime.
